While enjoying your stay at our Clairvaux Historical Farmhouse there is plenty to do and much to see. Robertson is situated in the blight of the majestic Langeberg Mountains and is known as the the valley of wine and roses, positioned in the heart of the Western Cape’s wine route. We can think of nothing better to do than taking a day trip, to visit the vineyards and marvel at the picturesque landscape. Here is a list of our 10 most adored, wine tasting venues.

Springfield Estate

This wine estate is definitely one of our personal favourites. Set in the heart of the mountain-ringed Robertson Valley. Springfield Estate is a family-run wine farm owned by ninth-generation descendants of French Huguenots, who came to South Africa from the Loire in 1688. The visitor is sure to be impressed by the method used to produce these fines wines, it will be an experience to be remembered.



Esona Boutique Wine Estate

This wine estate is located between Robertson and the neighbouring town of Bonnievale and boasts sceneries likened to none. The wine estate offers visitors a unique wine tasting experience. You will find yourself sipping wine in Esona’s old cellars, which is below ground, in fermentation tanks. This takes you back to an age old technique used to ferment wine. It is truly a unique and delightful experience, reminiscent of the rich history in the area.

Rietvallei Wine Estate

This wine estate may be found in the heart of Robertson. It is one of South Africa’s oldest family-owned wine estates and is one of the first wine farms to be established in the picturesque Robertson Wine Valley. We definitely recommend visiting this estate, we had a wonderful wine tasting experience and the wedding venue is absolutely stunning.

Mont Blois

This lovely wine estate is situated just outside of Robertson. The farm is named after the picturesque town of Blois in the Loire in France where the family originated. They pride themselves on being a sustainable farm. Visiting this wine estate is a lovely experience.


Viljoensdrift Fine Wines

Viljoensdrift is situated south of the Elandsberg Mountains, on the banks of the Breede River, the lifeblood of the Robertson Wine Valley. Wine enthusiasts can expect much more from the experience. A visit to this wine estate boasts a tranquil riverside experience including a relaxing boat trip on the river, tantalising treats from the deli and a gourmet picnic along the river banks. We highly recommend visiting this estate, it is a lovely experience.


Graham Beck Estate

The Graham Beck Estate is located in the wondrous Breede River Valley, a mere 10 kilometres from Robertson. The Graham Beck tasting room is set against the scenic backdrop of the wine valley. As you lounge and taste some of the finest wines, you will be enamoured by the local and international art that adorns the walls. As they specialise in MCC, Graham Beck has established themselves as superb winemakers. We personally find the MCC to be delicious.


Van Loveren Family Vineyards

This wine estate is situated approximately 40km out of Robertson and is a wonderful experience to be enjoyed by the whole family. The Van Loveren Family Vineyards allows the visitor to enjoy food & wine pairings, pod tastings, cellar and garden tours, hiking and mountain biking and bird watching. For a scrumptious lunch there is Christina’s Bistro. This estate offers a fully enjoyable experience. 


Sumsaré Family Wines

Sumsaré wine farm offers a lovely experience, for the whole family. This estate is nestled in Agterkliphoogte, a breathtaking valley where lush vineyards are cultivated in deep, cool, rich lime soil. The tasting room has been charmingly restored and is steeped in a rich family history, the building dates back to 1830. This is the perfect setting, that affords visitors a tranquil experience, sipping on aromatic wines, surrounded by the splendour of nature.


Kleinhoekkloof Wines

This wine estate is for the explorer. It is the ideal place for the wine, food and nature lover, seeking an authentic and soothing countryside experience. Nestled between the Langeberg and Riviersonderend Mountain ranges, in the Robertson Wine Valley. This wine estate offers a landscape of flower fringed roads, majestic mountains, a river running through the valley and above all, world class wines.



Lord’s Wines

This wine estate is nestled away in sublime isolation, At the end of the McGregor valley lies Lord’s Wines. High up in the McGregor Mountains you will find an oasis of lush green lawns, sweeping vistas and indigenous fynbos. With a breathtaking panoramic view and vineyards 500m above sea level, it is beautiful. Situated a few kilometres out of Robertson, it is surly worth the drive
